Sorting And Labeling Your Packing Boxes
Posted on 07/08/2014
When you are packing, the whole thing can be particularly laborious, but there are certain things that you can do in order to ensure that you are less likely to run in to trouble later on and make the whole thing even more laborious! Unfortunately this means a little extra work in the packing part of the move, but you will find that it is certainly worth it in the end! This refers of course to the process of labeling and sorting your removal boxes so that they are left in the right place by your removals company, and so that you can ensure a lot more ease in locating things as the removal goes ahead. You will find of course that this does indeed require a little more thinking and action from you, but the price that you pay for this sort of organization is not exactly a huge one, given the potential benefits of the process.
You will most likely find that there are a few was that you can do it. Whilst packing you can be labeling as you go, but this can be subject to change, especially from an earlier stage, and you will no doubt find that if you are moving one thing across to another box and having to re label the box a few times, it can get quite confusing and a little tiresome! If you are sensible about it, you will be able to find a method that works for you, but if not then it may just be best to leave all of the boxes open until the last minute, and simply label them as you close them up a little before the move. Be sure to give yourself enough time to do so, as otherwise you may well find yourself in a position where you don’t have enough time to get it all sorted before the removals team comes, and this could lead to panic, and mistakes!
You will find that the best things to label the moving boxes with are the room that it is destined for, as well as a brief rundown of what is inside. You don’t need to be too specific, just give an idea so that you would be able to visualize the things in the box upon reading it. For instance, you can put ‘Books, living room’ rather than siting all of the books in there! This example is not particularly useful, in that the books will rarely be of any use during a removal, but if you had a child’s favorite toy packed away in a box, and they started kicking up a fuss for it during the move, then you would need to find it in order to make them happy. Of course, boxes marked ‘toys’ rather than just ‘kid’s stuff’ will be a lot more specific, and you would hopefully only have a few of them to look through before finding the toy.
You will find that this process of labeling is extremely beneficial to the process of moving house with your items, but you should be aware that sometimes you will rearrange things in your new home in terms of how they were in the old place. The fact is, some rooms will be different, and you will want to have things go form the living room in one house to the bedroom in another, so try and be aware of this well before you start packing and labeling your boxes, as otherwise it can lead to confusion all round!
